Meet Mouhamed
Categories: Crafts
This is the second time, the talented Mouhamed has featured in our Artistic virtual art exhibition. He resides in Morocco and enjoys making and modelling wooden ships. These 32-inch handmade model ships are made of plank wood on frame construction method (gaff, deck, bow spirit, hull, rudder, keel, yard, topmast, boom and rigging). The intricate details have been carved. The shrouds are made of a thick woven string with deadeyes made of wooden beads. The sails (foresail, storm sails, main sail, top sail) are made of non-woven wall paper that have a shine finish effect that provide a luxurious look and are supported by the strings that keep it in shape and not wrinkle. On one side, there is LED lights to lighten up the interior. The creative vision of the flagship is to pull the sails as the strong waves appear to steer, in this case, the coronavirus pandemic.
